ABOUT MY WRITING

I moved around a lot growing up, and I wrote throughout my childhood. I won 2nd place through the Virginia High School Writing League for I Love You, Peter Harper and 2nd place at Carnegie Mellon’s MLK Writing Awards for a poem I wrote called brave & true // the red, white, and blue.

I went on to major in Comparative Literature at Princeton University. I won an award after my freshman year to visit art museums in NYC and wrote a collection of poetry — Requiems for Beautiful Girls — focusing on the perception of womxn’s bodies by male artists that are featured in these spaces, playing with themes of voyeurism, power imbalances, and racialized language in curation of these presentations.

During the COVID quarantine times, I worked as an intern for Innovations in Socially Distant Performance and became connected to White Snake Opera. I translated the libretto of their Alice in the Pandemic opera into Spanish for captions for the virtual streaming of the production. I also contributed to my school’s Nassau Weekly and Figments Magazine.

My thesis was a translation of Schiller’s Mary Stuart from German into English, with key scenes and songs inserted and written in iambic tetrameter. It won the Robert & Lynn Fagles Prize for a translated senior thesis. After graduating, I’ve since published a chapbook of short fiction with Wrong Publishing in 2023 — Dionysus and I Sip Cabernet and Talk Sh*t.

My queer romantic comedy play – 500 Rats: A Love Story – enjoyed a collaborative staged reading in NYC with In Confidence NYC.

I also held a reading for my sequel to Twelfth Night, 13th Morning.

I am currently working on a novel about a fictional town overrun by orphan children and a tree that produces fruit with mystical powers and a musical comedy about a utopian society founded on the uniting power of broth.
